The "Expert Center of the Republic of Armenia" SNCO has conducted, for the year 2023, professional training courses for persons holding autonomous positions in the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia. Experts of the Expert Center held remote courses on the following topics: ✓ Peculiarities for assigning and conducting handwriting expert examination; ✓ Peculiarities for assigning and conducting documentary expert examination; ✓ Precise formulation of the questions posed in a decision on assigning expert examination; ✓ Proper and correct packaging of material evidence submitted for expert examination; ✓ Seizure of material evidence at the scene of the incident, without damages and losses; ✓ Collection of unique fibres at the scene of the incident and proper packaging of clothes; ✓ Preparation of materials to assign an expert examination of road accidents; ✓ Peculiarities for assigning and conducting forensic-accounting expert examination; ✓ Peculiarities for assigning and conducting an economic expert examination; ✓ Peculiarities for assigning and conducting a traceological expert examination; ✓ Requirements to submit material evidence for expert examination in proper condition; ✓ Issues posed — correct formulation and the scope of solution to the issues; 7 ✓ The newly acquired equipment and the use of their capacities in criminological material science (expert examinations of a new sub-type); ✓ Subject and objects of material science, fire-engineering and electrical engineering expert examinations — the sampling characteristics thereof; ✓ Objects of construction-technical expert examinations and sub-types of expert examinations; ✓ Actions targeted at the scope of questions posed to the expert for clarification and actions for clarification of the questions; ✓ Peculiarities for assigning and conducting ballistic and explosive-technical expert examinations. Key issues related to the Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure of the Republic of Armenia, criminalistic tactics and methodology, the current opportunities for expert examinations, as well as the skills for effective communication were touched upon during the course. The experts of the Expert Center and persons holding autonomous positions within the Investigative Committee considered the courses as effective and expressed the desire to organise training courses, meetings and discussions in different formats on a regular basis these training courses, meetings and discussions will create an opportunity to achieve more solid and effective co-operation. The online courses were held with the participation of 78 investigators, with nearly 400 logins.
The Department of Materials Science, Fire-technical and Electrical Expertise of the
"Expert Center of the Republic of Armenia" SNCO has resumed the studies on
minerals and types of minerals. The qualitative, quantitative and semi-quantitative
analyses of powder-like masses are conducted with new equipment; it also depends
on the type and condition of the object of study, and the metals ranging from sodium/Na/ to uranium /U/ are detected. Due to the degree of sensitivity of the equipment,
experts can even detect the rare elements in the sample which is an object of study.
