EXPERTISE CENTER OF THE REPUBLIC OF ARMENIA

State Non-Profit Organisation

The initial pattern of the “Expertise Centre of the Republic of Armenia” State Non-Profit Organisation as an entity performing forensic examination has been established during the past half century, when the Expertise Centre was established as a scientific-research laboratory for criminalistics at the Yerevan State University by the Decree of the Government of the Armenian Soviet Republic No. 149 of 25 April 1959, which was competent for performing forensic examination together with scientific research in the sphere of criminology and forensic examination.

In 1966 the Laboratory was placed under the jurisdiction of the Legal Commission of the Council of Ministers of the Armenian Soviet Socialist Republic, and later in 1971 – under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Justice with the legal status of “Scientific-Research Laboratory of Forensic Examination” State Institution of the Ministry of Justice of the Armenian Soviet Socialist Republic.

Upon the Decree of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia No. 534 of 25 September 1996 the Scientific-Research Laboratory of Forensic Examination of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia was reorganised into the “Expertise Centre of the Republic of Armenia” State Institution, and later by Government Decree of the Republic of Armenia No. 1933-N of 23 November 2002 - into the “Expertise Centre of the Republic of Armenia" State Non-Profit Organisation which entered into the State Registry on 7 January 2003 and currently operates as such.
